Puppets: Monster Claws

I have finalised the monster claws although i have yet to figure out what to attach them to whilst filming and animating. I had painted over the miliput with black paint and with dark red nail varnish as I wanted the claws to appear very sharp and shiny. I also added some brown paint to the black wool on the hands as I didn’t want the monster to completely camouflage into the darkness of the background.

Props: Furniture

Here is the furniture for my film. Most of this is to mainly fill up the space in the bedroom and to make it look more like a room too. I used foam boards to make all of the furniture and also used glued together coffee stirrer sticks for the legs of the furniture like the bedside table and the draws. I also used the coffee sticks for the bottom of the bed to show the framing as there will be a scene in the film where my character is searching for something under the bed. For the main part of the bed, I have used cardboard.

I had made the knobs for the furniture out of thin wire. I just twisted it around in a spiral. I decided to use the bigger size as I saw that it fit better and looked better.

Here is the final product of the furniture. I had only done one coat of brown paint (burnt urban) as I managed to get a textured enough that it appears to look like wooden furniture.

Monster Reference

Since the only part of the monster that will be visible will be the hands and claws and part of the arms, thats what I have been focusing on. to make the hands seem as creepily and as horrifying as possible I have opted for a design that seemed quite slender yet also big and grizzly to match the winter and cold season that the film is set in. However, also trying to add in elements of a sleep paralysis monster into the design too, as those are more like the monsters that you will find lurking in the dark corners of your room.
